Zoey is Walking!!!

It's Official!

Zoey's preferred method of transportation is now walking.  Yesterday she gave walking to the kitchen from the living room a go.  Today she has all the confidence in the world and is so proud of herself.  I've been working 12 hour shifts this past Monday and Tuesday, so I haven't seen much of my little girl.  When I went to pick her up from daycare today, the director saw me as I came in and just had to tell me how happy Zoey is now that she knows how to walk around.  She's never seen Zoey more thrilled.  When I came into the nursery room, Ms. Chris picked Zoey up from reading books and stood her in the middle of the room.  Zoey marched right to me!  ... well, she does veer to the right a little, but she is too cute!  She holds her arms up in the air as she walks ... like she's wading through high grass.  Luckily our house isn't too big so I won't have to chase after her too far!

Happy Birthday, Gabe!

Happy Birthday, Gabe!

A few weekend ago, Zoey got to celebrate her cousin Gabriel's 2nd birthday.  They got to play together with his birthday toys.  Zoey especially liked Gabe's new tunnel.

Not too sure if they actually enjoyed pushing the car together, though ...

But I do know that it was a great weekend!

Baby's First Temper Tantrum

Can infants throw temper tantrums?  Maybe Zoey was just super fussy?  Last evening she was quite a sight.  If we took something away from her (e.g. the crayons she was sticking in her mouth), she would lie down on the floor, on her belly and face-down, and kick her feet while crying.  It only lasted a few moments, but jee-whiz, kid!  You'd think we had cut off her allowance.  I'm hoping she's feeling better today.  Yesterday she didn't really feel like eating.  She slept all through the night.  Let's hope she was just tired.

On a lighter note, Zoey's getting better and better at walking.  She's been practicing going back and forth between mom and dad.  Last night she was holding herself up with the coffee table, but then walked a few steps unaided to lie down on a big pillow on the floor!

Zoey's First Easter!

Easter 2010
Humble, TX

Zoey had a wonderful first Easter with her mum, daddy, Lolo, Lola, Uncle Mark, Aunt Erin, and Cousin Gabe.  I gave her some Easter eggs to practice with the Friday before, and she had a blast.

On Saturday we all went into the backyard for some fun.

When it came to actually hunt for eggs, Zoey was handed a basket and was unsure what to do.

Evidently she thought the grass needed to be removed from the basket.

Her Lola took her around to find some eggs.

Zoey and Gabriel found many eggs filled with treats!

She found some time to practice walking with daddy.

On Easter Sunday we took some pictures in the living room.

There are so many more pics that I just adored.  View them in Zoey's gallery here!

Hope everyone had a great Easter!
Love,
Shawn, Chris, & Zoey

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Kiss me! I'm roughly 1/4 Irish!

Zoey had an excellent St. Patrick's day.  She looks pretty good in green (like her dad and unlike mom).  She's been very happy cruising around.  There's a new little girl in the infant room at her daycare.  Zoey's definitely used to being the diva of the class, so she's not too sure about having to share the attention of Ms. Chris.  Hopefully she'll get used to not being the queen bee!

Kisses & Chopped Liver

We had a great, laid back weekend with Zoey.  On Monday I was a little reluctant to part with her, but I needed to work and she needed to have a great time at day care.  We get to Serendipity, and I plop Zoey on the floor and 2 little boys immediately start crawling over to her.  Little Mark was going in for a kiss, but he was having bib issues that impeded his crawling.  I guess that was a good thing because he had some spit up all over his face.  Not to worry, Zoey just leans over and kisses him on the head instead.

Mind you, I've never seen Zoey kiss anything but toys and occasionally a step on our stairs.  Now she's kissing boys.  Mommy hasn't had a kiss yet.  Daddy hasn't had a kiss yet.  But these little boys are gettin free kisses.

Mom and Dad are chopped liver!

When I got home that night I begged Zoey for kisses.  After a while, I think she even did it!  Either she kissed me or she was trying to kiss her glow-worm, and my face got in the way.  Well, we're working on it.  We even got her to kiss Daddy earlier this evening.

...keeping an eye on those boys...
